We have been counseled to stock up a one-year supply of food - and at least 3 months, which is considered by many to be the critical survival period. The 90-day mark is the filter that we are told is the minimum we should be prepared to reach with meals we are used to eating. The one-year supply is to be more basic foodstuffs.
