Case Study: The Real-Time Enterprise Rescue
Client: IBM (via Myriad Media) Role: VFX Director & Creative Partner
The Business Problem: IBM required a highly technical, VFX-driven virtual training campaign ("Meet Ingrid") to introduce the IBM Training Center and IBM Cloud Certification. The mandate was to create a digital character living seamlessly within a dynamic IBM programming environment. However, the initial creative direction provided by the agency misfired. During the first high-stakes executive review call with IBM, the misalignment created a tense, near-disaster scenario that threatened the entire project timeline and agency-client relationship.
The Creative Strategy & Stakeholder Buy-In: In a cross-functional, matrixed environment, defending a failing creative concept only damages stakeholder trust. I recognized that the executives didn't need another verbal pitch—they needed immediate visual proof that their feedback was being heard. My strategy was to instantly pivot the creative direction and regain stakeholder buy-in without interrupting the flow of the meeting or throwing agency partners under the bus.
The Scalable Execution:
Live Agile Iteration: Instead of taking notes and promising a revised render days later, I bypassed the traditional post-production bottleneck entirely. Utilizing OBS Studio, I routed my live After Effects workspace directly into my webcam feed.
High-EQ Diplomacy: While the executives continued to speak, I silently executed live VFX edits, adjusting the chroma keying, lighting, and virtual background iterations in real-time to match the exact feedback they were verbalizing. I visually solved the problem right in front of them before the call even ended.
The ROI & Impact:
Diffusing Corporate Escalation: This rapid, high-EQ technical pivot instantly diffused a highly intense executive review, transforming a near-disaster into a collaborative, successful sign-off.
Securing Executive Trust: On the subsequent call, IBM leadership explicitly commended my ability to actively listen and translate their corporate needs into immediate visual solutions.
The Enterprise Takeaway: While the "Meet Ingrid" campaign was one piece of IBM's massive branded ecosystem, the workflow proved an immense operational value: the ability to keep a cool head under pressure, leverage unconventional tech stacks (OBS) for rapid iteration, and protect the agency-client relationship at the highest Fortune 50 level.
